PartyCasino.com made one lucky slots player richer to the tune of over $1.8 million earlier this month while awarding another with a new Maserati Gran Tourismo automobile.
The Gibraltar-licensed site revealed that a player using the pseudonym ‘Arkry222’ took home its life-changing Gold Mega Jackpot on May 7 from just a two-dollar spin on its SuperStar game.
The 48-year-old player, who lives on a horse farm, won $1,888,198 and, as the Gold Mega Jackpot was tied into the Grand Win Auto leaderboard promotion, his fortune saw another rewarded with the new car.
"It was a Friday night and I wasn't far off going to bed and I was sat at the computer," said ‘Arky222’.
"I actually had the volume down on the computer as I had the television on. I was playing SuperStar and all of a sudden these squares came up. I hit complete and the screen lit up in loads of colour. Then the number appeared on the screen. I had never seen so many numbers in my life; it was an international phone number."
The player’s partner of 13 years was similarly disbelieving and called out ‘that's play money’. However, the realisation of what had just happened soon hit home with the ‘infrequent player’ revealing that the win would definitely alter his life.
"I was numb," said ‘Arky222’.
"I was on a different planet. It was then that I realised that I had missed a call from the VIP team at PartyCasino.com and it started to sink in a little bit more. I hadn't been feeling well all week but now I was just in this strange kind of happy limbo. I went back into my account and there it was, over $1.8 million
"I think I am going to have to spend the money on the standards of a holiday, a new car and new house. It will also allow me to be become more flexible with my working hours as I am going to go freelance. I will also have time to play a few more games on PartyCasino.com and I love the concepts of Melon Madness and The Circus."
The Grand Win Auto leaderboard promotion was due to run from May 6 to 19 and would see the player sitting at the top when the Gold Mega Jackpot was hit awarded with the new Maserati car or a cash equivalent.
"It didn't hit me until the next day that by winning the Gold Mega Jackpot someone else had won a Maserati," said ‘Arky222’.
"All I can say is to enjoy your drive, mate, and get in touch. Fancy taking me for a spin?"
"We'd like to congratulate ‘Arkry222’ on winning the Gold Mega Jackpot," read a statement from PartyCasino.com
"He is a super guy and very deserving.
"We would also like to congratulate the winner who enjoyed the spin-off from this win. We thought the Grand Win Auto promotion would last longer than one day but that's casino."

Virgin Casino, part of the leading online gaming company – Virgin Games, has today announced the launch of Noah's Ark, a new slot from WagerWorks. Based on the highly successful IGT game, which has proven popular with players around the world, Noah's Ark is a 30-payline slot that has an exciting Split Symbols™ feature.

Gaming News: 44 Million Stolen Gaming Accounts Found, by Greg Tingle - 28th May 2010
Security concerns are just as bigger concern in the gaming - video gaming industry, as in the igaming - online casino and online poker biz. Gambling911 and Media Man, encouraged by the massive response to Google's Pac-Man story, once again grab the gaming console to investigate...
Internet security outfit Symantec, posted on their website they have uncovered a "cache of stolen gaming accounts". Not just any old cache... its a "whale".
The untoward cache is around 17GB in size and contains the details of around 44 million gaming accounts.
A large proportion of the accounts details stolen are for popular games World of Warcraft and Aion.
The data was apparently stolen using software such as Infostealer. Gamepass and then verified with a threat known as Trojan. Lognick, which tests account details and logs all successful login and password combinations.
Of the accounts stolen around 210,000 were for World of Warcraft with online values between 35 and 28,000 USD.
Early this year Gambling911 reported that a number of British bookmakers and online casino companies were being investigated for stealing and attempted selling of players data. Media Man has been approached a number of times over the years by criminals attempting to sell "players lists" (name, email, $ value, casino name, address etc), of which Media Man did not purchase, and in fact tipped off law enforcement agencies.
Symantec, maker of Norton Antivirus, recommends that you keep your antivirus protection up to date and change you passwords regularly.
Media Man and Gambling911 also recommend you have different passwords for both your videogaming account and online casino account.
Security will be one of hundreds of topics discussed and displayed at the upcoming E3 Expo in Los Angeles on 15th June. The expo will feature the worldwide hard launch of Richard Branson's Virgin Gaming, and you can bet security will be tight.. an Aussie MP reckons "gamers are more scary than bikers"... lets see if he's right. Good punting, happy hunting, and good gaming.

Google Games Pac-Man "Wasted" 4.8 Million Hours, by Greg Tingle - 26th May 2010
Gamers, gamblers, sports lovers, insiders, outsiders... whatever hat you choose to wear, a trend that is almost impossible to miss is that the world of gaming, igaming, gambling, media and entertainment is becoming one. Need more convincing? Look no further than the number of news reports that both Media Man and Gambling911 have worked on and shared. Gambling911 being more of a gambling - gaming - sports betting and news website portal and Media Man being more of a general news and entertainment website portal, with gaming, gambling and sports betting enjoying considerable prominence.
Following the early signs of Google's gaming aspirations, going under the tag 'Google Follows The Money Trail To Gambling', switch the time machine to today and Google has now 'released' (showcased) arcade classic PAC-MAN.
Insiders and the well informed will be aware that a number of months ago Google teamed up with game powerhouse Hasbro with the online game version of 'Monopoly City Streets' (not gambling... and not to be confused with 'Monopoly Here & Now' or 'Monopoly Multiplier' slot machines). IGT (International Game Technology), just off a legal win against Australia's Aristocrat Technologies, does the offline versions of the 'Monopoly' slots found in land based casinos for those interested.
New Google Online Pac-Man Game
Staff playing Google's animated online Pac-Man doodle game, marking the game’s 30th birthday, has caused about 120 million dollars in lost productivity, according to a range of analysts.
One of the analyists, not wanting to be identified, tipped that the launch of the Animated Google logo designed to mark Pac-Man's 30th birthday on Friday led to almost five million "wasted hours" and cost the economy around 120 million dollars!
Google is understood to have enjoyed 505 million unique users on the day the Pac-Man Google Doodle went live to web.
The online version of the classic PAC-MAN game consumed 4,819,352 hours of employee time, costing the economy an estimated $120,483,800 dollars.
Google user were over the moon to discover the animated Pac-Man on Google's home page last Friday. It was Google’s first crack at an interactive logo, and we doubt the last. In the know journos and tech entrepreneurs say to expect more Google gaming logos and games, with a decent possibility of Google Gambling happening, once more clarity is obtained from a range of countries in regard to internet gambling and gaming. Australia appears to have the biggest question mark over it from Google, with somewhat of a war of words between Google top brass and Australian Communications Minister, Senator Stephen Conroy.
Internet users can play the game by clicking "Insert coin" (perhaps a sign of things to come or a version of gambling conditioning)?
Marissa Mayer, VP of user experience at Google, said the firm had been "overwhelmed, but not surprised" by the response given to the Pac-Man doodle.
"Due to popular demand, we're making it permanently available at www.google.com/pacman," she advised.

Gambling911 and Media Man advise punters, hardcore and casual, that they do not currently have to insert a coin in their computer or web enabled "smart phone", nor do you have to send money to Google to enjoy the game. We hope that doesn't sound to Alien to you!
The Media Man website portal is one of millions of websites where punters can examine a showcase of online games, in either 'Play For Free' or 'Play For Money' format.
PartyGaming - PartyCasino.com remains a favorite for Australians and Canadians, and Virgin Games enjoys strong patronage in Canada, the United Kingdom and South Africa.
Google and Google Pac-Man is available in almost every country expect China (Censorship Land Of Great Firewall), with whispers saying Pakistan may be next to loose The Big G - Google, following their lose of social websites Twitter and Facebook, facilitated by political and cultural "disrespect" type reasons, that we're still trying to get our head around. Not sure if its about how many Virgin's a man can have or what...
Richard Branson's Virgin Games - AWOMO (A World Of My Own) is set to have its hard launch at a U.S trade show next month and has global domination of the gaming market on their mind. It will be interesting to see if Virgin and Google become official partners or if they become total or partial competitors. It's in most entities interests to stay on the good side of Google, since their search engine remains so popular, and they also have their fingers in so many other pies including Google TV!... also understood to include a gaming component, which may be expanded to gambling, plugging into the ever growing sports betting sector.

Wrestling News: Why did WWE put the U.S. Title on Bret Hart?
Bret Hart became the U.S. champion for the fifth time on Monday night, defeating The Miz in a chaotic title match. This interference-packed encounter was further evidence that Bret Hart is relishing his return to the spotlight.
It surely won't be long before The Hitman gives the title up. However, it seems strange that WWE would decide to put the title on him in the first place.
At the age of 52, and collecting on an insurance policy that is being paid to him on the basis of him being unable to wrestle, Bret Hart is not capable of having anything more than matches filled with interference. It is a shame for a wrestler whose career comprised an outstanding body of work to be unable to perform at a level he could in his prime.
Nevertheless, it seems that Bret Hart still has something to offer professional wrestling in 2010. As limited as he may be in the ring, The Hitman has been consistently excellent on the microphone since returning to WWE this year. One of the biggest fears about bringing Bret Hart back to WWE was that he would be irrelevant to a new generation of fans who never witnessed him in his prime. That has not been the case.
The Hitman has more than held his own in verbal exchanges with the likes of Vince McMahon, Shawn Michaels, and Chris Jericho, and his acting has helped to create sympathy for a character that younger fans may be unfamiliar with. The storyline with Vince McMahon was overbooked, but it had its moments, such as when Bret revealed that he had been faking his injury to get McMahon to agree to a WrestleMania match.
The problem occurred when The Hitman stepped in the ring at WrestleMania 26. Limited by what he could do, Bret Hart beat down McMahon for over ten minutes, which coupled with a contrived storyline about the Hart family, made for arguably the worst match of his career. This inability to wrestle at a decent standard is the main problem with the return of Bret Hart, as there is no point in cutting great promos if the matches they lead to are a disappointment.
Thankfully, his title match was kept short on Monday night, and his shortcomings were covered by a string of run-ins. The crowd was into the match, and reacted with jubilation for Bret Hart's win. Slightly tarnishing The Hitman's victory was the commentary of Michael Cole, who inexplicably started heeling on Bret Hart, saying that he did not deserve the title. We can only speculate as to why he was produced to say this. He is much better on NXT as a heel announcer than he is as an announcer on Raw, so maybe it will be a good thing if Cole brings this aspect of his character to Monday nights.
While the title change was well-executed, there is the question of why they wanted to give The Hitman the title in the first place. He certainly can't go on the road to defend his title, and will be surely giving the title up in the near future. Hopefully he will drop the title back to The Miz rather than vacating it on Monday night.
It seems as though every time The Miz comes close to heading to the next level as a cocky heel, WWE cuts his legs out from underneath him. The loss to Bret Hart this week, Tyson Kidd the week before, and being made to look like a jobber by Big Show recently has not done The Miz any favors. His alliance with Chris Jericho has potential, but the number of times he has been pinned recently suggests that he won't be rising above the mid-card any time soon.
Bret Hart's title win was a nice piece of nostalgia, but TNA has shown that regular nostalgia is not conducive to drawing money for a modern wrestling company. Dropping the title back to The Miz as soon as possible would probably be the best way forward, as Miz would clearly benefit from a pinfall victory over The Hitman.
Bret Hart can't wrestle the way he used to, but as his performance on Monday night showed, he is more than capable of working a crowd. Hopefully there will be a meaningful role for him after he loses the U.S. Title.

Casino And Gaming Entrepreneurs Encouraged To Invest In Domains, by Greg Tingle - 18th May 2010
The world is considered a pretty small place these days, largely thanks to the internet aka WWW, and of course airlines and Lear Jets, operated by our "partners in crime", Crown Casino king James Packer and Virgin king of the world, Sir Richard Branson.
Media Man and Gambling911, both considered world leading internet new media powerhouses of sorts, probe the beast that is the World Wide Web, casting out net far and wide...hauling in whales, dolphins, tuna, algae, and likely, a few sharks! Sharks... another reason to shore up your business enterprise with a few more domain names... read on...
In the internet (and news media, gaming and sports betting business) sector, there's only so much room at the top, and just like prime real estate in Sydney, Gold Coast, New York and Florida, there's only so many prime sports available... the same holds true for personalized number plates also, like HIGH ROLLER, BALLER, CASINO KING, VIRGIN KING, POKER WSOP and you get the idea.
Given the current state of the internet, gaming and publishing world, Media Man is delighted (and relieved) that we made the decision to buy up big on media, sporting, gaming and casino related domain names a few years ago.
Having a considerable portfolio of owned domain names (some with website portals attached, some not), serves a number of purposes.
a. Domain names help brand your business
b. Owning numerous domain names and websites help one dominate the important top 10 Google, Yahoo and Bing search engine and news results
c. Domains help keep competitors out so you can "own" a business sector
d. Added copyright protection to stop cyber squatters, cyber criminals and the like
e. Help control the information that appears for your business and personal profile
f. Helps drive extra online traffic
g. Serves a solid investment in the event that you may like to sell off some names and / or websites when you can get the price you want
h. Peace of mind
i. And more
Friend, the amount of decent, prime and gold domain names is drying up... not sure? Just do a search for some domain name addresses you would like to own, and there's a good chance someone else already owns them! One may argue that the great real estate rush on internet domain names has come and gone, and now most of the best names are already owned.
The lack of good .com domain names has boosted the popularity of .net .org. .com.au and even .asia and .tv by default.
Even good blog, YouTube and Twitter names are getting harder to find.
Let's look at some of the technical reasons good domain names are becoming harder to secure...
Internet protocol addresses are running out rapidly.. too many humans, not enough unique addresses
An IP address uses 4 numbers from 0 to 255 to distinguish one computer from another.
Limited Combinations
There are more than 4 billion combinations... however, the amount of networked devices means that soon won't be enough.
Readers, perhaps you can recall a decade or 2 ago when you have to change your phone number... maybe a digit or two got added... this happened to free up more available names and combos etc... well, it won't work exactly that with the the WWW, but there will be some similarities (and considerable more chaos).
Internet and comms geeks at the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre, Geoff Huston sheds some light on the matter...
"Unlike the telephone system, it's not easy to just add more digits,".
Although every telephone number in Australia was successfully altered, the phones themselves didn't change. Humans simply dialled an extra number and folks everywhere still answered.
But every web server, every iPhone, every router and everything else - possibly billions of devices - will need to be reconfigured or upgraded. "The idea that every last one has to go back into the doctor for a new transplant does sound a bit frightening," Huston says. "It's almost like having to teach every device a new language."
New language: IPv6
Fortunately, a new language exists.
Computers now use IP version 4 and have since the 1980s. Its replacement is version 6, known as IPv6. For humans, little will change. The traditional way we visit a website, by typing google.com or facebook.com, won't be any different and personal computers will automatically use IPv4 or IPv6 as required.
Technically, it's not all that difficult to enable IPv6. Logistically, it's a horrendous challenge.
Background To Original Internet
Experts say punters won't be prepared to pay more (but whales and big corporates, cashed up casino entrepreneurs and the like might be).
It's even possible that large numbers of people will no longer be able to see everything on the internet.
So far, the dwindling storehouse of IP addresses has been managed with trickery that translates one IP address to another.
But by about late September next year, the key body that distributes IP addresses will run out of them. Three months after that, every drop in the pipeline will dry up and the only way to get an IPv4 address will be to buy one from someone else.
Lacking that, consumers whose computers are not configured to use IPv6 won't see new websites. Likewise, iPhones, which don't understand IPv6, will be limited to the "old" internet. For businesses that are not prepared, this could spell Big Trouble In Little China.
Unless web servers and mobile phone services are configured to send information via IPv4 as well as IPv6, companies could be left with a fraction of their current customers.
Some good news is that once IPv6 is in place, it should satisfy demand as far as a computer can calculate. "If every single address was one grain of sand", web geek genius Huston says, "in IPv6 you could build 300 million planets the size of Earth."
So punters, media and gaming entrepreneurs and everyone else.
Media Man and Gambling911 have given you the heads up... might be an idea to invest in some more domain names before every single one is gone under the current system.
Be wary to some casino affiliate programs running domain name auctions and the like. The hype associated with these, especially if conducted at a live event, is only going to increase the chances of the domain names prices being inflated ..jacked up! Casino Jack.
Ok, a few more real examples... some half wits tried to imitate and ride off the good name of Gambling911 and also Media Man (including Australia and International).

Media Man Canada: Crown Casino Client Ferrari Stolen With Virgin Valet, by Greg Tingle - 14th May 2010
Down under in Melbourne, Australia, one casino punter was feeling extremely lucky, pouncing on an opportunity to steal (not win) a Ferrari F430, when a casino valet handed him the keys. Media Man and Gambling911 follow the story in high speed pursuit...
Melbourne Police have now arrested the formally lucky punter after a Crown Casino valet mistakenly handed over the keys to a Ferrari F430 Spider and he took off for a joyride lasting half a day to Coolaroo of all places.
The 32-year cheeky fella was reportedly wearing a tracksuit when a casino valet gave him the keys to the bright red, V8 supercar about 12.30am today.
Police advise the punter drove north up the Tullamarine Freeway but was pinched by police about 6.30am as he fuelled up at a servo in Coolaroo, on Melbourne's outer northern region.
"He is currently assisting police with their inquiries," she said.
Forensic police will today examine the car, which has been towed to a holding yard in Campbellfield.
The attendant at the servo advised the man filled the beast up with petrol before police nabbed the bandit.
"He just filled up with petrol, came in here, paid for it and the cops were outside and just got him," he said.
"The cops I think were already after him."
The happening starting to generate a serious of state, national and international news stories, with Melbourne 3AW radio enjoying banter with a witness "Mark".
"Someone walked out of the casino past me and the security guard, got in and drove off,". The security guard said to me - because he only had an old tracksuit on - and he said 'you can't pick 'em can you'."
Crown Casino spokesman, top brass, Gary O’Neill said the incident was a first for the casino. He explained customers using valet parking were provided with a ticket to be returned to the casino parking attendant when time to collect your car.
"It has happened in the past from time to time that people lose their tickets, and in these circumstances we ask for proof of identification and a valid driver’s licence. Those procedures were followed on this occasion," he said.
"The procedures that we have followed in the past have not resulted in this particular incident, but that’s not to say our system is perfect," he said.
"We’re cooperating fully with the police investigation."
Mr O’Neill said the incident had been caught on film by their CCTV cameras and the footage would be handed over to police. Crown Casino is known for its world class security, as is it's Sydney competitor Star City. The Australian land casino industry was forced to upgrade security in recent years following a succession of undesirable incidents. Industry insiders sometimes joke about the plastic handcuffs initiative and footy and cricket stars getting pissed at casino events but this matter was very serious in nature. The casino wants its VIPs, high-rollers, whales and the like to know that their transport is in safe hands at Crown Casino.
Melbourne's Police 'Highway Patrol' is known to be world class and its understood that at least 99% of police corruption as featured on Network Nine 'Underbelly' has been cleaned up.
Crown tag lines include 'World Of Entertainment' and 'Wear The Crown'.
Mr James Packer, Australian and Asia Pacific casino and gaming king, remains the owner of Crown Limited. He also owns Burswood Casino aka Burswood Entertainment Complex in Western Australia, and has a number of interests in Macau and Britain, as well as new media - internet entities. Packer remains passionate for sport, meeting Virgin king Richard Branson last year at the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix and enjoys polo, as did his late father Kerry Packer.
Ok you want more on the sports car...we hear you...
The F430 went on sale in 2005 with the Spider convertible going for a cool $444,000 AUD, plus options and on-road costs.
F430 production was ceased earlier this year and will be replaced by the flashy458 Italia, which we understand has a two-year waiting list.
Casinos have long been associated with fast cars (and fast, sexy women). In recent years the online casino and online poker sector has plugged into the demo, with PartyGaming and PKR offering sports car as high level prizes.
A few months ago PartyGaming and PKR Poker had a Porsche up for grabs, but no one qualified to win. Not to be disheartened, Party's casino and poker brands are once again offering dream machine grand prizes...
Last week Richard Branson's Virgin Racing came to sponsorship terms with online poker powerhouse Full Tilt Poker. The massive exposure of Virgin's F1 involvement on a international scale was a key reason the deal went ahead.
A number of weeks before the public Virgin - Full Tilt Poker deal, PartyGaming's PartyPoker signed up F1 superstars Jaime Alguersuari and Giancarlo Fisichella as brand ambassadors. Poker legend and World Poker Tour mainstay Mike Sexton remains the global PartyPoker ambassador. Last month following the sporting theme, PartyPoker also signed up Italian football legend Francesco Totti. The financial terms of the poker sponsorship deals are not currently known, as all parties appear to want to keep the details under wraps. Speaking of big names, rumours are circulating that PartyGaming may be in the midst of doing another deal and announcement with movie legend of Rambo and Rocky fame, Sylvester Stallone. Sly is featured in the Rambo online slot game, exclusive to PartyGaming.

Mr O’Neill said the incident had been caught on film by their CCTV cameras and the footage would be handed over to police. iPhones More Dangerous And Expensive Than Gambling... Aussie MP, by Greg Tingle - 11th May 2010
Technology has opened up all kinds of exciting possibilities for punters, sports lovers, news hounds, big business, and just about everyone else, however, technology can both make and cost us all a lot of money. Technology has certainly joined the ranks of the Good VS Evil club. Tech giant Google proclaims 'Don't Be Evil', and as Media Man and Gambling911 learn, folks are starting to question the core of Apple and a host of telcos, along with parts of their business model. Worse than preying on "problem gamblers"? Are "problem smartphone" users the new addiction to be alert to? You be the judge...
Red hot iPhones and smartphones are seeing multitudes of the population getting massive bills generated from web downloads.
Of late the online gambling sector has been copping a bit of heat from some small but vocal parts of the community and government, but iphones in general are stating to be seen as quite the "wolf in sheep's clothing". You don't have to visit an online casino or sports betting website to run into danger of getting a 5 figure bill.
The Media Man research crew has learned that with iphones one can loose track of data costs and the bill can go through the roof, where as with online casinos and sports betting one is much more aware of what they are downloading and spending, and are much less likely to be hit with a huge data bill. Furthermore, a number of online casinos such as PartyGaming - PartyCasino offer the option to play in browser mode, so the customer doesn't have to worry about large downloads and data costs. Sports bets can be done online for just a few dollars after an account has been set up.
Readers, a most important part of the equation with iphones and the like is to ensure you are on the correct plan (and adapt your use to it). Get the terms and conditions in writing. If you do rake up a bill and are not happy with the ISP and comms company you believe responsible, most countries offer a telecommunications complaint department. Down under in Australia it's the Australian Telecommunications Ombudsman, and our spies tell us it is a very busy office. Australia is understood to have more telecommunications complaints per capita than any other country.
Aussie MP Gets Stung For Huge Bill Via Son's iPhone Downloading
A South Australian MP (Member of Parliament) has been hit with a whopping $10,000 bill on his phone after it was discovered his son downloaded footy games! God, the Australian sports scandals continue to find new directions just when we thought we were getting closer to exhausting our efforts.
MP Russell Wortley usually got a phone bill for $200 bucks. After getting the latest bill he went into what is known as "bill shock".
"I was in shock, I only use my phone for mobile calls, so I knew there was a problem" Mr Wortley said.
His 13-year-old son was the culprit. You've got to watch those "little monsters". The minor had downloaded "free games" on his dad's impressive new iPhone without permission.
Mr Wortley failed understand that, while the smartphone had the capacity to download the applications, his phone plan did not. This may be covered in the fine print. Insiders say Mr Wortley may do well to bring in the legal eagles, as telecommunications companies are well known to overcharge people, just as banks are... the mongrels.
As of time of publication it was undetermined if the charges are from the actual download, or for the time his boy spent playing the "free games".
"I can't believe somebody would be charged $4000 for playing a game for one hour," he said. "It sounds mind-boggling. "People should know that they, or their children, could be innocently downloading games which they think are free, but at the end of the day they end up costing thousands of dollars," he said.
An update... to Media Man's disappointment we have learned that Mr Wortley is now going to pay the bill himself.
The "bill shock" matter serves as a warning to those intending to play games on their iphones or whatever. Again, check your plan and the fine print. One may do well to take precautions and keep the iphone locked up somewhere safe if not using it... especially out of sight and grasp of young and inquiring minds.
The victim has even taken the complaint to Communications Minister Stephen Conroy, who said he would follow it up with the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA).
AMTA chief executive Chris Althaus advise the industry group had contacted Senator Conroy's office after the publicity over the Mr Wortley's phone bill.
But Mr Althaus advised his take on precautions punters er consumers could take to avoid "bill shock".
Pre-paid plans can help people who are virgins to determine how much data they are downloading without a nasty surprise at the end of the month.
Data monitoring can provide alerts to those on plans when they are reaching the end of their data limits.
"We're very anxious that people get a sense of what their consumption might be because it's a new format...there are...new applications and new ways of downloading content," he said.
"The mobile data scene is going to be incredibly valuable to consumers, the economy and all manner of sectors ... but we've all got to get a little educated along the way.
"It's in nobody's interest to have people in debt."
iPhones - heaven or hell... take a bite out of the Garden Of Even if you will, but be prepared to meet the devil... ok, meet your accountant and the accounts receivable departments.
A number of Australian MP's are looking to get some iphone applications banned, and are probing at least one Australian iphone app maker. Based on this this horror story it may be a good idea to further regulate the igaming sector, and they should further clean up the Australian telecommunications sector whilst they are at it. It's no secret the Aussie comms sector has a number of "snake oil" salesmen and operators within, so let's get the bad guys who give the industry a bad name.
Maybe the online slot games that have a "play for free" option, as well as "play for money", aren't such bad value for money after all. You've got to be in it to win it. Spin to win, but be alert to spin of a different kind from your friendly igaming data firm and telco.
Popular game titles such as Cleo (Cleopatra) and Tomb Raider are starting to hit the iphone market but the testers in the "rat lab" at Media Man reckon its better and safer to play them on a regular computer. Again, know what plan your on. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Media Man and Gambling911 want winners, not losers.
Know the odds, set limits and have fun... and if you have a "smartphone" aka iphone, be alert and take precautions.

Australian Video Game Censorship Minster News, by Greg Tingle - 8th May 2010
Censorship, both online and offline, and in this case, off the shelf, remains a red hot topic down under in Australia. Media Man and Gambling911 investigate and learn that fun and games (and delays) are just part of the ride.
Australian Federal and state censorship ministers have failed to make a final decision on R18+ rated video games despite expectations a meeting yesterday might produce an outcome.
A meeting of the Standing Committee of Attorneys-General yesterday instead opted to release a report into the extent of the consultation, showing there had been about 60,000 submissions of which 98 per cent supported allowing R18+ games to be sold.
But federal Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor said the ministers were not yet able to make a decision.
Current laws set MA15+ as the highest rating for a game, meaning anything more explicit cannot be legally sold in Australia.
Any change to the laws would require unanimous support from state ministers.
The R Rated Superstar (Edge) WWE Superstar pro wrestler, was unavailable for comment, as was Angelina Jolie (Lara Croft in Tomb Raider) and Billy Murray (Captain Price in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare).
Media Man will follow up all parties and contact the Australian Communications and Media Authority office into the new week to satisfy the demand of the astute and loyal Gambling911 readership.
The head of one of the world's largest computer game publishers has accused Australia of censoring video games.
Frank Gibeau, the head of interactive powerhouse EA Games, weighed into the debate on whether games in Australia should be granted an R18+ rating by writing an open letter to the Government criticising its lack of support for the adult rating.
Mr Gibeau said the current policy forcing developers to rewrite game code was "censorship".
"Government policies that don't allow for the rating of mature content in video games effectively censor entertainment choices for adults," he said.
"These policies show a poor understanding of today's video gaming audience.
"Existing legislation in Australia that limits age ratings of games to 16 demonstrates a distance between those policies and the reality of the video game industry and the people that play interactive games in Australia today."
Mr Gibeau said adult consumers were entitled to be responsible for their own entertainment choices and the classification system for films had done a good job protecting children from inappropriate content.
"The spectrum of gamers is as wide as the viewership of television, movies, theatre, and the readers of books," he said.
"Governments don't insist that all books be written for children, or that all television shows be cartoons.
"Adult gamers want their governments to treat them with the same respect they get as movie-goers and book readers.
"Adult Australians should be allowed to choose the games they play, including those with mature themes."
Mr Gibeau also warns the existing Australian policy towards gaming classification could also have a negative financial impact on the many talented local developers.
"Policy makers should consider the environment they create for game makers," he said.
"Governments that design policies hostile to game developers and their creative medium will struggle to attract investment from the global industry."
Richard Branson's Virgin Games (and partner, Domain Game International), are currently looking to attract investment to move forward their international expansion plans of AWOMO (A World Of My Own), an online multiplayer gaming platform. Games to be released on AWOMO include Rome: Total War, Fifa Football Manager, Warhammer: Mark of Chaos and Tomb Raider: Legend. These will be offered in addition to Virgin Games’ current suite of online gaming products. Over 200 titles are expected to be added once complete. Potential investors can made contact via the AWOMO official website.
Virgin competitor, PartyGaming, which PartyCasino and PartyPoker.com brands are available to players in Australia, are understood to be watching the AWOMO space closely. PartyGaming is strong in the themed online gaming sector with branded titles including Sinatra, The Terminator, Mission: Impossible. Like Virgin Games, they also offer a range of Marvel Entertainment - Marvel Comics themed slot games, including Thor, due to hit the movie cinema in approximately 1 year. PartyGaming's Noble Casino also offers iconic Iron-Man, however the Playtech powered Noble Casino has had some technical issues in the past few weeks. PartyCasino is working at 100% and Media Man has a number of reviews available for reading. PartyGaming and Virgin Games have both won a number of awards and commendations over the years and are regarded as two of the best and most trustworthy gaming brands in the world. Virgin was founded in 1970 and PartyGaming in 1997. PartyGaming remains listed on the London Stock Exchange.
What Next For Gaming In Australia?
It is currently unclear how this video game classification - censorship situation may or may not be related to Australia's seemingly ultra censorship agenda, well documented by leading journalists, academics and social and political analysts. In the past week weeks bible bashers and other do gooder groups have lobbied government to see magazines such as FHM and Zoo Weekly disappear off newsagent and shopping centre shelves.
The report of gaming and gambling by the Australian Productivity Commission is currently due to finally be made public in approximately 1 month.
The government initiate to filter the internet down under is currently due to be actioned in 1 to 3 months, depending upon what report and source you choose to believe.
Ah, the fun and games continue.
Please adhere to your countries or jurisdictions laws regarding gaming and gambling.

UFC 113 BetUS News
UFC 113 BetUS News
UFC 113 will be quickly upon us this weekend May 8th, 2010. I thought I’d send out a quick reminder and an highlight some of the matches. I’m not sure about you, but I seem to have to constantly reminded of these dates or these events will just pass me by. Anyways, the last event for WEC 48 was really cool and featured some great bouts. I hope UFC 113 will do the same.
The big fight of the night is the re-match Machida vs. Rua for the Light Heavyweight Championship belt. I see things going a little better this time around for Machida. Last fight he got beat up a bit but retained the belt on a split decision. This time he knows he’ll have to be the aggressor and Rua will get caught with his chin out. My pick Machida KO 3rd round.
The fight between Koscheck vs. Daley should be fight of the night and all stand up. Koscheck the more experienced and superior wrestler has indicated he’ll stand and bang with Daley. The brash, cocky Daley has secured a staggering 78% of his 23 wins by knockout. "If he wants to stand-up, that's easy", says Daley. "If you're gonna stand up with me, you're gonna get knocked out--I've said it time and time again." These guys don’t like each other now and Koscheck is going to hate him later after he get’s KO’d. My pick Daley KO 2rd round.
Another potential KO bout is the Kimbo vs Mitrione. Kimbo should be vastly improved skill wise from his showing against Houston Alexander over 6 months ago. He’s got the right work ethic and training now and should be a force at this weight class.
Mitrione was one of the better athletes on the TUF 10 season and should be as he did play in the NFL. He only got one of two fights under him so I don’t give him much of a chance. My pick Kimbo KO 2rd round.
One last bout which could also vie for fight of the night is the Stout vs. Stephens one. Stout is one of the fiercest brawlers in the UFC and among all the Canadian fighters on this card he’s the one with the most skill. Stout made his pro debut at the age of 19 and has since racked up a slew of victories.
Stout will surely be a crowd favorite as he defends his home turf against human pitbull Jeremy "Lil' Heathen" Stevens at UFC 113 in Montreal. If both fighters' past performances are any indication, then this fight could be worth the price of admission all by itself!

Edge and Randy face off on Raw - 4th May 2010
Tag teams were the focus on Raw this week, as an old duo clashed and a potentially great one formed.
Edge and Randy Orton once comprised the team known as Rated RKO, but after the Ultimate Opportunist speared the Viper to close last week's show, they were booked to face off in Edge's talk show segment, The Cutting Edge.
Hyped throughout the show, it proved to be the quasi-main event, and concluded with Randy standing tall after nailing an RKO on his former comrade.
Prior to this, Edge cut a very strong promo explaining that he tried his hardest to please the fans, but they wouldn't accept him, hence his heel turn.
Adam Copeland is a terrific talker, but hasn't found his groove since his return as a babyface. It's nice to see the wide-eyed, paranoid heel Edge back.
During this confrontation, Orton found time to RKO the Raw Guest Host Wayne Brady, who contributed little else to the show.
It evoked memories of Steve Austin dishing out stunners to all and sundry, suggesting that if Randy showed a similar penchant for hitting his finisher in scattergun fashion it could get him even more over.
We already know the WWE title, currently held by John Cena, will be defended against Batista at Over the Limit. So this show featured the two men wrestling in separate matches, with the man who got a win in the quickest time choosing the stipulation for the bout at the PPV.
Batista was due to face The Miz, but he produced a Doctor's note excusing him from action, and instead allowed his NXT rookie Daniel Bryan to face the Animal.
Batista knocked off the former Ring of Honor champ in about five minutes, although Bryan got some reasonable time to shine.
Later, Cena was supposed to wrestle Chris Jericho, but again a scheduled opponent cried off, with this time Jericho's NXT protégé Wade Barrett taking his place.
Cena beat Batista's time, and was about to announce what stipulation he would like, when he was ambushed by Sheamus, who had earlier got in Batista's face and claimed he should be the No1 contender.
With no obvious opponent for the upcoming PPV, Sheamus may well be inserted into the mix to create a Triple Threat by the time we reach Over the Limit.
Our favourite moment from the show, though, was the realisation that Chris Jericho and The Miz look set to be aligned as a Tag Team.
They have title reigns with Big Show in common, and a backstage segment where they compared note on the giant, who moved to Smackdown last week, gave rise to what seems like a uniting of the pair.
You could put forth a very good argument for Jericho and Miz being the best promo guys in the whole of wrestling right now, so a formation of a team is an exciting prospect.
They sat in on commentary to see the current champions, The Hart Foundation, get their hands raised against William Regal and Vladimir Koslov, and attacked them post-match.
There is only really one question to answer. Do we called them JeriMiz or Mizicho?

Hitman drops WWE future hint - 4th May 2010
Bret Hart has raved about his recent return to the WWE and hinted he may extend his stay with the wrestling promotion.
The Hitman returned for a WrestleMania match with Vince McMahon, but remained as part of their programming in the aftermath of the showpiece event to guide the Hart Dynasty to the tag team titles.
And speaking on the Right After Wrestling show on SIRIUS Radio, Hart said: "I thought I'd be done at WrestleMania, but every week there's something else.
"I don't mind. I'm having fun. The return of The Hitman has been good for me, good for the fans and good for the wrestlers.
"There's been nothing but an upside to it all. I'm pretty happy with it."
Canadian Hart's last appearance for the WWE is scheduled to be on WWE Raw from Toronto on May 17.
And although he insists he does not see himself carrying on after that date, he added: "At the same time I wouldn't rule anything out if I can play a useful role.
"It's not like I'm doing that much these days.
"As long as I'm not on the road every day like I used to be.
"The Monday Night Raw role I've had for the last three months was a lot of fun...and I would do it all over again." (Credit: The Sun)

Australian Casino News: Jenny Woo Poker Babe of Month, by Greg Tingle
It's been a huge week for Australian gambling, gaming, sports betting and censorship news. This is likely the biggest Australian casino and gambling news week in modern history. Let's see... NRL Melbourne Storm sports betting scandal, Melbourne Gangland Killer Carl Williams dies and gets buried, Sin City Sydney Crime & Corruption Expo, Computer kiosk gambling device tested by law, Aussie Daniel Tzvetkoff to remain in Vegas jail facing money laundering charges, Aussie internet filter delayed for months, Melbourne's Crown Casino to host The Logies tomorrow night, with 'Underbelly' nominated for awards... wait, there's more!...
Australia - Asia Pacific casino king, James Packer and his City Of Dreams Macau also faces its latest challenge with the opening of competitor casino, Marina Bay Sands in downtown Singapore, and New Zealand's SKYCITY was host to the 2010 New Zealand Gaming Expo.
Oh, how could we forget...Gambling911's Jenny Woo, wooing us (and 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair), picked up Media Man 'Poker Babe Of The Month' and PartyPoker's Kara Scott grabbed 'Casino Babe Of The Month', so it was a jam packed week and month.
Media Man and Gambling911 advise its time to take our the probe and dig a little deeper...
NRL Melbourne Storm Sports Betting Scandal...
Apart from whispers in the industry, it all started when punters starting betting on The Storm to take out the "wooden spoon" (last place). A day or two late alarm bells were ringing loud and sports betting outlets effected are estimated to be out of pocket by at least $100,000, possibly at much as $200,000. The Storm are fighting for survival and now allegations are being laid against other NRL footy teams are are also understood to have cheated their way to winning. This story is far from over.
Melbourne Gangland Killer Carl Williams dies in prison bashing; Gets buried in gold coffin
Not a well known gambler, but self described "semi professional gambler" Williams was buried yesterday, in a gold plated coffin no doubt. Police warned the grave diggers and other "need to know" people (like direct family) not to disclose where the coffin is buried. We wonder why... just kidding. Williams luck ran out for good, that much we know. More real life 'Underbelly' news is bound to surface in the near future, helped in part by our sometimes contact Bert Wrout, 'Underbelly' survivor, leaking news and and information to the press. Insiders say the killings are over, and no one is (smartly) willing to attempt to hurt Melbourne "consultant" Mick Gatto.
Sin City Sydney Crime & Corruption Expo - Opens 1st May
Gambling themes and figures a plenty. Touted as the real 'Underbelly' history, focusing on the 1940's to 1980's, George Freeman ('Colourful Racing Identity) and 'Mr Sin' Abe Saffron are the main event (dead) draw cards.
Of all the black-market trades, casinos played the most active role in corrupting police and politicians, paying them thousands of dollars a week in bribes.
Baccarat king Richard Reilly was shot dead in 1967. With him gone, other operators moved in and transformed the city's basic gambling houses into substantial, plush 'Las Vegas'-style casinos. Business-minded criminals such as George Freeman, Lennie McPherson and Stan Smith joined forces to revolutionise gambling and protection rackets in a massive restructuring of the underworld.
Illegal SP (‘starting price') bookmaking exploited off-track betting restrictions to generate huge profits for savvy criminal operators. George Freeman, at one time the largest SP operator in the state, bought influence by using his ability to guarantee winning bets as a powerful form of bribery. Freeman was not alone. Illegal bookies were both the favoured betting choice for punters and the most consistent earner for Sydney's criminal syndicates until the 1980s, collectively turning over as much as $6.4 billion in today's dollars each year. The very integrity of racing was threatened nationwide by corrupt bookmaking that encouraged horse doping and race fixing.
I'm the toughest man in f***king Sydney. I can kill anyone I f***king well want to, but I can't get my f***king dinner on time!
Lennie McPherson to his first wife, 1960
... there was only one thing I wanted out of life. I wanted to be a crook. Not just any crook, but the crook, the BIGGEST - the man with money, power, influence. Working for a living never entered my head.
George Freeman, 1988
Mr saffron should be employed by the Australian forces as a camouflage expert, sir. He's done it successfully for many many years.
Jim Anderson, 1983

Marina Bay Sands VS Aussie James Packer's City of Dreams Macau
The land based casino wars continue to heat up, and 'Our James'... Australian James Packer is in the thick of the action. Packer's Crown Casino faces increased competition down under in Australia from Sydney's revamped Star City, and now Sands has opened in Singapore, in a move that insiders say will lure whales and dolphins away from Crown Macau, but don't underestimate the loyalty to Packer. Many have bet against the Aussie - Asia Pacific casino king before and lost. The Marina Bay Sands in Singapore is one of the biggest and most expensive casinos every built. Having opened its doors two days ago, throwing down the gauntlet... the dust is just starting to settle. Insiders say James Packer is at the top of the list of other operators who need to stay on guard and answer the challenge. Packer has enough top line connections to stay on top and in favor with the whales, should an all out "war" erupt, as is the case in Australia, where Tabcop Owned Star City Casino has now spent $600 on a revamp, part of which is designed to lure "whales" and the world's top entertainers.
Computer Kiosk Gambling Device (Not) Tested By Law (And Returned)
Following our report on the 25th of the month, there's been some very important developments on the legal situation re the internet kiosks located in Australian pubs and hotels that Australia's Tabcorp called a "gambling device". The courts do not agree! Victory for VenueNet and Australian internet lovers... Media Man and Gambling911 with the story...
Yesterday a computer terminal with internet access that gaming authorities claim is an "unauthorised instrument of betting", was reinstalled! A computer being plugged back in is not normally so newsworthy, but because of the gaming, legal and political connection, it is, so there you go! Back to the pub from where you were seized, you good computer. The (kangaroo not) court ordered it, so hop to it son.
The manufacture of the device er machine, VenueNet, has a business arrangement with Darwin-based bookmaker Sportsbet to offer customers access to their betting accounts through the computer kiosk. The full details of the agreement are commercially sensitive in nature, but its a win-win.
VenueNet is hopeful the court's ruling will facilitate a planned roll out by the truck full of some 200 devices er machines.. up and down the east coast of Australia.
The Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation confiscated the device er machine from the Rising Sun Hotel in South Melbourne last August, after receiving a complaint from Aussie gaming and racing giant Tabcorp, which currently holds Victoria's exclusive retail wagering licence. Tabcorp are also the current owners of Star City Casino in Sydney (which James Packer of Crown is rumored to have an interest in... a deal once stopped by his late farther Kerry, close to a decade ago).
The 'Kiosk Case' as its now known as in gaming circles is seen as being a test of Australian gambling and igaming laws that have failed miserably to keep pace with technology and has raised doubts about the value of the Victorian wagering licence, which is up for tender. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Senator Stephen Conroy take note "failed miserably"..."raised doubts"... its the Kiosk Case, not the Aussie internet filter case.
Aussie Daniel Tzvetkoff To Remain In Vegas Jail Facing Money Laundering Charges
Tzvetkoff, also exposed as also processing porn company transactions, remains in jail. He faces up to a 75 year term (if he lives that long). Federal prosecutors said that Intabill utilized the automated clearinghouse system to transfer funds between U.S. checking accounts and various Internet gambling businesses, including online gambling and porn. They charge that Tzvetkoff and others disguised those gambling transactions as repayment of payday loans that consumers had taken out online, as well as transferred funds applied to pre-paid debit cards. He was indicted for money laundering.
"Tzvetkoff and his co-conspirators obtained unique websites and toll-free numbers for these shell companies and developed phony websites to make the companies appear to have a valid, non-gambling purpose," the indictment said.
Aussie Internet Filter Delayed
The prospect of Internet filtering in Australia is highly unlikely in either the May or June sittings of Federal Parliament. Online gambling websites were among those that appeared on a leaked list of "banned sites".

Report urges government to take over gambling regulation
A new report urges the federal government to take over the regulation of gambling, which costs Australians $18 billion a year and which states rely on for $4.69bn in tax revenue annually.
The report by Deakin University and the Australia Institute urged the Rudd government to put a 2% tax on all gambling revenue, while using some of that $378 million to give state governments that reduce gambling levels incentive payments to reduce their reliance on tax from poker machines.
Crown Casino Groupier's Scammers Caught
A Crown Casino croupier and his gambling housemate (almost inmate) who teamed up to try beat the house have had the scheme die out.
Quoc Tran, 27, manned the roulette wheel as his mate Hoa Nguyen, 34, placed bets over at least three days in April last year.
A Melbourne court heard while Nguyen placed some legal wagers, other chips downed after Tran called "no more bets" and the ball had landed on its number!
Mr Tran allowed Nguyen to repeat such illegal transactions 15 times, which got them "winnings" of $15,750.
Crown security spied them and called police who arrested the pair, later to plead guilty to charges of theft.
David Grace, QC, advised Nguyen had turned his life around and had also repaid his $7857 to Crown. Nguyen's legal eagle said he had so far repaid $900 bucks.
Deputy chief magistrate Jelena Popovic said the men's efforts went in their favour.
The Footscray pair were released on non-conviction undertakings with orders they pay $750 to the "court fund". Media Man and Gambling911 with them well with their rehab from their past ways.
So readers, er punters, what a week its been. Freeman, Saffron and our old mate, 'Big' Tim Bristow would be proud, and most likely reading the world famous Gambling911 website for updates, if there were still with us. Network Nine's 'Hey Hey' top bloke, 'Pluka Duck', and his handlers, have been reading with great interest.
Till next time, don't do anything we wouldn't do. Know the odds, good hunting and happy punting.
